M6 0-2 St Neots Mens 3

Andy Thomas

South Arrived at St Neots on a sunny but bracing morning, with a squad characterised by young and fresh players.

We did find opportunities in free play, frequently having a man over and getting off a few shots, including one which hit the post.

Some great runs from Alex, Henry and James really helped us press. And we also had four short corners. Regrettably the injection was fluffed up on three of these, perhaps something to work on in training.

George Betts did a solid job as an irregular keeper, keeping out a number of shots and avoiding a considerably worse score-line. Backed up by some almost rock-like work by Tendayi, letting very little through.

We definitely had the enthusiasm and the pace over the opposition. However there was a lot of gamesmanship from St Neots who were able to capitalise on a number of fouls awarded to them. They used the width, and had some very good shots. All in all, the score-line didn't really represent the quality of play or the enthusiasm.

LoM was very close between Andy T's swing and miss at the top of the D, hitting a St Neots player in the leg. And Matt who was very forthcoming with his opinions about the umpires and a couple of Saints players.
