What a Shower!

Leadership – it’s a way of life, it’s a commitment, it’s a destiny, it means something, it’s continual and everlasting. Ask Nev – that man; that armband. Where he goes, it goes.
“Where did he have it in the shower?”

Cold, windy and wet – but the conclusion was it could have been, colder, windier and wetter (see - Friday). So, let’s look on the bright side there shall we?

CSHC’s old men’s club had another run out at Long Road on a Sunday against another group of fantastic chaps from Braintree. And again, the home team battled hard and got the deserved win. A frankly ridiculous turnout of sixteen players rocked up (plus special mention to Jo D who came along to support from the sidelines – is he mad?) Lots of organisation required for the precise subbing timings – I think we understood the rules laid out my Jan… I think.

Both of the goals were grabbed in the first half. The first was after a slick set of passes in the middle of the park by JJ & Nev which allowed Owen to nick in between defender and goalie to tap in at the back post. The second was a melee in the D, where the ball fell to Jimbo who picked out Owen, who fired from right to left past the keeper.

Lots of running by Vijay in a MOM performance kept the visitors on the back foot and he was unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet.

Into the second half which was dominated again by South, in particular those players who are usually defending but saw this as an opportune game to get themselves on the scoresheet. John G brought his hankie with him to help with the nosebleeds he would have undoubtably got as he ventured into the opposition D – unfortunately his quota of 2 shots for the season were used with no reward. Better luck next year, JG. Neil S also huffed and puffed but couldn’t blow the door off and get that goal chalked up – but he did try very hard.

Good fun game played in the right spirit by both sides. Same we had to wait so long for the pizza…

After all the pre-match talk about previous jug avoidance from Oven, he scored two in the first half…then passed up opportunities in the second to complete the hat-trick. Nailed on.
