Men's 1sts lose to City of Peterborough 4

Cambridge South, proudly sponsored by PwC, succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to fellow mid-table side City of Peterborough on Saturday.

With a plethora of regular players absent, the home side struggled to find any real cohesion and the fluid passing we've come to expect from this team was absent. Nonetheless, the sides were equally matched in the first half with the defences coming out on top in a match of few clear-cut opportunities.

The second half saw the visitors in the ascendancy and they dominated the possession and territory. The home side's rear-guard was in excellent form, though, and was able to keep the visitors at bay until the final ten minutes when the incessant pressure finally produced a scrappy goal. As South pushed forward looking for an equaliser Peterborough managed to get a second, to give the score line a slightly flattering look.

Captain for the day Robert Garrett was frustrated with the match, commenting "With new faces and people playing out their regular positions we were always going to struggle for structure and fluidity, but I thought we'd done enough to get a point out of the game. To concede so near the end is very disappointing."
