Rob Barton

A last minute goal rescued a point for South 5ths for the second home game in a row.

Stu Creed was the player taking his teammates plaudits for the last-gasp strike, dribbling into the Peterborough circle and firing a reverse stick drive inside the goalies near-post. That built on an earlier penalty corner finish from Rob Barton, thumped home with a straight strike, as a much-improved performance after the break saw South overturn a 2-0 half-time deficit.

If those goals had been coming for the M5s after the break, the ones against in the first 35 were both avoidable and rather self-inflicted. Both came from Penalty Corners… but in the case of Peterborough’s opener that was one of our own, which was muffed leading to a counter with a massive overload, poor defensive choices seeing the scorer get into the circle unmolested to crack easily past an exposed Ben. The second came from a penalty flick that was earned by Peterborough from one of their penalty corners that was brilliantly saved on the line by… not Ben.
