That's what I go to training for

Becky Donaldson

Having lost last weeks match purely on short corners, training this week was entirely focused on not doing that again. Shout out to Izzy and Ed for a great session - it's safe to say it worked...

The first half seemed fairly even with our midfield working hard and our defenders passing it well around the back. A right slip on a short corner rebounded off the post but quickly found the goal again on the end of Connie's stick. Woop woop.
As the first half came to a tense end, there was some great work by our defenders to keep us ahead.

Half time came and went with minimal feedback to improve because we're fantastic.

In the second half, Wisbech came back strong with some aggressive attack on the goal. Cassie handled it well, even when Shree accidentally backed into her and tripped her up. Shree sneakily didn't mention this until after the lemon votes were counted, intead gaining a few PoM votes for her speed tackling Wisbech forwards on the break.

South countered this attack with our own. Cat rescued a cross from Lily from going off the back line and instead managed to tap it in from the air into the goal putting us 2-nil up in style.

A final goal from another short corner put us comfortably ahead of Wisbech and with cool heads we finished the match 3-nil up.

POM went to Connie for her goals in an excellent first(?) game for South. Special mention to Katy for some excellent linking play as centre midfield.

LOM went to Hannah for asking "Where's Connie?" when Connie was stood literally right behind her. A very quick game of hide and seek indeed. There was a special mention to Connie for coming off the pitch without a sub. Oops.
