Frustrating loss!
Catriona WestOur prematch tactics consisted of watching the end of the ladies 2’s game and a run to the carpark for our warmup. We started off in high spirits thinking that we would win … and very quickly conceded two goals. Oops. But we continued to fight and had some chances before scoring from a short corner, where Charlotte slipped left to Becky and Connie put the rebound in the back of the goal.
Half time saw us at 2-1 down and we were still confident we could bring this back, helped by the sweets and orange slices provided by Laurie. Though as a true vegetarian I have to point out that the other veggies in the team eat non veggie sweets. Fake girls.
The majority of the second half consisted of us in their 25 attempting to score and unfortunately not quite succeeding. Their keeper saved a few, Kath had some shots just wide, Becky hit the post … etc etc. Then near the end of the match St Neots had another break and scored, so sadly we weren’t able to equalise. Boo. Everyone played well despite the occasional ball to the knee which about half our team managed to receive - I think all from the same player too. A St Neots player also decided to add some drama to the evening by becoming the third umpire on the pitch and very loudly and insistently calling for a short when a long was given. She got sent off.
PoM went to Shree for her hard work in defence and great tackles, with votes for Becky, Nicole, Connie, and Cat too. Special mention of course goes to Katy for kindly stepping into goal for us and having a great game.
LoM went to Becky for thinking that she must be the person in the club who’s from the furthest away place as she’s from the “North East of England”. (Hannah goes: “no … like Australia.”)
Becky Donaldson
Hannah: we need to find out who is from the furthest away place Becky: definitely me!! Hannah: no, I mean like Australia Becky: yeah I know, but I’m from the north Hannah: ….. ?
