An early morning but worth it!
Naomi GibsonToday’s match report is short and sweet and as I haven’t mastered the art of match report writing I’m going to use an art form I have grown to love…gifs/memes!
We can’t start without mentioning Thursday night’s training, I think it’s fair to say we were “on the pitch” but ultimately… who doesn’t love a bit of chaos?
Now to Saturday. The day began, at what felt like the crack of dawn. The L4s rocked up to Wilberforce Road for their 9:30 pushback against Kettering 2s, still half asleep but feeling positive.
When the first whistle went, we hit the ground running and our recent pattern of a frantic first 10mins was no longer a thing.
The first half seemed to fly by and before long our first goal was scored and then another and another and…
At this point, our tactics changed from goal scoring to tiring out the opposition and game management, to make the second half plain sailing. By halftime, we were in high spirits and looking forward to the second half.
Four minutes in and the fourth goal was scored followed by five more, the South side were on fire!
However, in the 34th minute, Kettering slipped the ball into the back corner of their goal making the final score 9-1. All in all, each player had a great game and we left the pitch motivated and ready for our next challenge.
Special mentions go to our POM Hannah for her two fabulous goals and holding the team’s formation. LOM goes to Naomi for starting on the wrong side of the pitch not once but three times and responding to “shout where you are,” with “I’m on the pitch”. Finally, a big thanks to Kate and Sean for umpiring!
