M2 1-2 Bourne Deeping Mens 1
Mitri AmirehMatch report:
December 3rd, changed and ready to get on the pitch a slight drizzle of rain. A decent distance away from home playing Bourne Deeping 1s who were currently 5th in the East Men’s Division 2 North west with 16 points and Cambridge in 7th with 13 points. As lemon of the match myself has realized he’s forgotten his shoes, Stuart to the rescue supplies him with shoes. On the pitch warming up as we feel this is an important game to win to put us in a better position for the last game of the year. The end of the warm up and the start of the game we dominate the ball and get many chances, this leaves us some what open at the back as we feel the game is there for the taking. No goals by the end of the first half and only one short corner won even though we were creating many chances and held the ball very well. At half time the team felt we could go on and score many goals and get an emphatic win. When the second half started they get a counter attack and win a short corner. Short corner is taken, dragged to the top, slipped left and flicked into the corner. A wake up call for us as we start off cold and without intensity, with lots of determination to get back into the game we provide good attacking moves and many short corner chances. We try many different variations of short corners and many do not come off, eventually a slip left by Pete and a slap from Henry into the opposite right corner of the goal. With three minutes to go this could be game changing for us as we have all the momentum. With high pressure and mistakes from the opposition we gain a few more chances but are unable to put them away. As we were focused on scoring and we’re playing really high up the field we get dispossessed a long ball down the middle of the pitch results in a race to the ball a miss communication in defense leads the ball to go under the Cambridge goalkeeper and put away by Bourne Deepings striker the whistle goes for the last hit of the game and the result ends Bourne Deeping 2 Cambridge south 1.
