Slip and slide

Kath Atkin

A colder and foggy Saturday morning saw the L4s heading to Huntingdon 1s new pitch location in the middle of a pop up housing estate in Northstowe. We started our warm up with bags of energy considering the temperature had definetly dropped since the previous week (or so I am told).

The L4s started the game with lots of great possession and attack but narrowly missed out on the dream start scoring of in the first few minutes. The L4s continued to battle throughout the first half having lots of possession and making lots of drives into the D. Just before the half-time whistle blew the L4s conceeded a short corner which Huntingdon neatly scored from a straight strike.

After a great half time treat of starbursts and mini eggs the L4s started the 2nd half again with lots of possession and attack. But once again conceded a short corner after a Huntingdon attack in which the ball trickled over the line after bouncing off the inside post. Determined to try and get something back the L4s continued to push forward having several attempts on goal in the D either saved by the keeper or narrowly missing the goal.

We finished the match a little frustrated that we had not managed to get something from the game back but pleased with the whole team performance. As a side note we all also exclaimed about how slippery the pitch was and how most of the team had ended up falling over in some capacity during the game.

POM this week goes to Claudia who was continually running in the mid covering lots of the pitch.

LOM goes to Laurie who managed to throw her stick across the pitch when making a pass
