Cambridge Clash

The 6s took on Cambridge Uni 4s again and we felt good in the warmups! Coach Chris was there for support and motivation and the addition of our fabulous photographer Colin, we were raring to go! (P.s go check out our Instagram @cshcladies6 to see some action shots).

Anyways, we started strong! We didn’t let them concede for a big duration of the first half and our defence, Elly, Ruth, Laura and May were killing it! Cambridge Uni had at least 25 shots on goal (excluding the number of short corners as well) and once again, our fabulous goalkeeper Claire saved so many and rightfully earned herself player of the match.

Polly and Sarah had some perfect positioning and passes with Georgia who was literally everywhere (honestly, I need some more stamina like her and May). However, Uni managed to get 2 unlucky goals in before the end of the first half, but we kept our heads high after a quick half time catch up with Coach Chris.

Onto the second half and Hattie had some beautiful drives down the line onto Vinnie and Esther (our dangerous duo) and we did have some shots on goal AND a short corner which came so close but just missed and Eleanor and Alice were smashing it up front.

Myself on the other hand, was too busy absolutely stacking it on the floor (before you ask, I have absolutely no idea how it happened) but myself and one of the uni girls ended up on a pile on the floor, and Colin got a photo mid fall… yay! After taking a little fall and a very painful knee, that earned me LOM (my first ever LOM so great debut for me). Elly also got a ball to the face (best not kitted goalie I must say!) And Sarah also got a nice ball to the head too! (At least we help all players unlike Uni who left one of their injured players behind).

It was an unfortunate loss for the 6’s but everyone played great and the pizza at teas made everything okay but well done to everyone and other POM votes went to Elly for brilliant play all round and May for fabulous defending, but our goalie Claire took a very well-deserved POM. (And I did almost get out of this match report to Ruth for arriving after push back, but I took the majority lemon votes with my ‘total Long Road wipeout’ as someone called it!

Well done 6s onto next week against Pelicans!
