It was a disappointing score for a great game.

This weekend the L6s faced Pelicans L3s in an away match in King’s Lynn. Despite an early goal from the Pellies, the L6s held most of the possession, with midfield tearing it up and down the pitch. Vinnie (POM) was a key player, showing multiple good runs down the right, and some determined hits in the D to hand over to the forwards. Alice (POM runner-up) demonstrated excellent match awareness with great positioning and good picks as a left forward. Solid defending as always from Elly, Ruth, May and Sarah.

Second goal came towards the end of the second half from a short corner (it happens). In the last moments of the game, defenders made the strategic decision to come up the pitch and support the team in a last ditch attempt at a point. An interception and quick run from the opposition, coupled with one of their players hanging up high made for a final goal for the Pellies in the last minute before full time.

This weekend the L6s showed how well they can pass the ball back and around and find their way through the opposition on the flanks, by passing and working together. All we need is a bit of work on the finishing touches and we’ll be breezing past the Pelicans on the league table.
