A pleasant trip to Kettering
Ginny AshcroftHighlights of the day:
- Katy B not having left Cambridge yet when we realised we couldn't fit Zoe's larger than life goalie kit in mine or Nicole's modest sized cars
- Daisy remembering her kneepads
- Katy B scoring 2 outstanding shorts, one very clinical straight shot the other more spectacular sent over by Bethan and pinged over the goalie to the back of the net
- Cat’s cool, calm, collected open play goal
- Kath and Nicky’s triangles up the pitch working the ball into the D
- Naomi’s well placed and well timed post tap to secure another goal
- Becky’s confident shot from top d bringing us another vital goal
- Zoe being tall and flexible using her splits skills to save a wandering ball in the D
- The defensive line ( having a very satisfying game, clean sheet, great channeling and working the ball up for the mids and attacks
- Lasagne, garlic bread and pudding for match teas 10/10
Lowlights of the day:
- Daisy taking a shot but before touching the ball falling spectacularly (shout out the highlight of having her kneepads on)
- Daisy wondering when Kettering had scored after looking at the score board and seeing it read home 0- 1 Away…some basic hockey skills to be swotted up on there
- Nicky breaking her shoelace early on
- Vicky ‘forgetting/ misplacing’ her stick and using an old somewhat rattly stick instead
- Claudia forgetting we were playing in our away kit and turning up fully in purple
- Naomi’s mid game ‘war cry’ (read frustrated meltdown cry)
- Katy for sassily calling to me that not to worry about Kettering getting the ball going off the back as ‘she’s running but she won’t make it’
- It takes an hour to get there
All in all a good day’s hockey and relief to have got 3 much needed points. Unsurprisingly Daisy picked up LOM this week and POM went to Nicole and Katy with a special mention to the defence who all picked up many POM votes considering it was a landslide victory.
Nicole Mills
Great interceptions, workign the ball up the left and all roudn great defending
Daisy Storey
Double lemon for a spectacular fall in the D and thinking the other team had scored becuase the scoreboard read home 0 - 1 Away...
