Keenly Marking Our Keeper
Rhi DaviesA trip out the Kings Lynn was what the 3s were facing today, knowing that this was going to be a tough day. However we were not prepared that the struggles were going to start before we got on the pitch. With half the team in one changing room and other half in another, more public, changing room we reconviend by the side of the pitch.
Loud warm up lead by Rhi, is there any other options, set the girls ready for a great battle ahead. The whistle went for the start of the game and sunshine on the yellow sunflower we are.
The first half was tough the opposition showed their strength however, so did the girls. Understand how they played Emily focused on stopping them coming down the middle whilst Connie and Rhi worked on their triangles to work the ball up the pitch. Ginny lead the fought on the 16s with Annabelle clear on the wing she was able to distribute the ball down the line to offer some great opportunities. However, a goal was conceeded but many were stopped by Lydia.
South continued to battle well and managed to start build the play and after some great team work around the D, the ball landed at Connie's feet who wollaped the ball into the bottom corner, 1-1. The rest of the half started to open with lots of back and forth play, the half time whistle was a relief.
Second half, fuelled with sweeties, south played well will Emma continuing her channeling work and Phoebe being a brick wall we looked to be working well. However, after some more well worked play from the opposition the girls were 4-1 down. No matter Steph, Anna, Tess and Cat continued to offer options up front and some lovely moves were made but unfortunately we weren't able to get another goal. (Well we go one after some great play but sadly 'a foot' lead to it being disallowed.) Pelicans worked well until the end and a final goal left the end score 5-1.
A tough game but some lovely play from the girls which was highlighted by the range of POM votes for Emma, Emily and Rhi but the winner this week was Connie, who not only got us the goal but had a fabulous game building play and breaking down the oppositions play.
We all gave LOM a go, Rhi almost took Tess' head off, but most of these efforts were after the votes had been cast. Ginny had a fabulus game marking however when she started marking Lydia, that was just too much. Honory mention to Steph who found tallying a little difficult, could work the car seat; ended up more horizontal than forwards. Anna thought she was using her initiative using a hair dryer instead of the the hand dryer across the room.
