City v South

Erin Weatherstone

We started this game off in good spirits acknowledging it was going to be a difficult match but that we wouldn’t go down without a fight.

The first half was strong - we were holding our formation, maintaining our intensity and communicating well. Suzi and Luisa were holding the defence amazingly and Lydia’s clear direction from the back kept our defensive structure on point. Daisy did well in the half back position making some lovely runs down the line and Emily B despite playing out of position this week did some great work in the centre of the pitch. Our inners (Connie, Indi and Hannah) were brilliant at helping to move the ball forward but also coming back to defend and our forwards (Steph, Tiff and Tess) were zooming all over the place creating chances and making runs up the pitch.

Half time 0-0!

The second half started and continues with City pushing forward time and time again. Amazing saves from Lydia (earning her POM this week) kept us in the game. Unfortunately City were able to squeeze a couple past us in the last ten minutes or so of the game. Despite this we still kept our heads up and kept pushing and creating chances until the end.

Final score 2-0 to City

POM went to Lydia for amazing saves
LOM went to me (Erin) for nearly taking Indi out with a deflection (Sorry Indi I was completely oblivious this ever happened!)
