Sick at 4am, scores a goal 2pm

Kate Dixon

The weariness of September had hit the team hard. The energy was flat, with a hangover lurking and pair of astros missing. Kettering had also received the memo and only had 9 players until 5 minutes before push back.

We had the confidence of our three previous wins behind us and Kettering had the confidence of promotion last year.

Who could find the energy to use that confidence? South, of course.

A slow start to the game that built and built. Forward fast was echoing around the Astro, and forward fast was what came. Many fast circle entries from our forwards, and many efforts on goal. The energy was building. Sarah Dodds unleashed her long handle energy sending a ruthless ball across the D for our hatrick hero Kerryn to start off her campaign. 1-0. Energy boosted.

Kettering with only 11 players were deflated and our forwards were energised. More pressure was put on and more spills from Kettering occurred. A hungover Issy was waiting to pounce (on the ball not the g&t’s), poking one over the line. Hangover energy gone*.
2-0.

Jenny T providing the half time vitamin C energy and cries to put for more pressure on their defence were heard. The forwards went hunting, and Kerryn bagged two more goals for supper. Hatrick hero, deflection Queen, Scandy finisher*, energy giver, you decide.

A 4-0 win and energy restored.

4 from 4 - the Winter energy.
