The one after the Halloween Social

Polly Lockyer

Twas the day after the Halloween social, and despite having had an extra hour in bed due to changing clocks, it is safe to say that a few members of the team were still feeling a little worse for wear, and sporting residual evidence of fake blood from the evenings fancy dress. The warm up run proved a little too much for Nicky P who fortunately made it off the pitch in time before losing her lunch (earning her the Lemon vote of the day!).

With a 13 strong(ish) team we took to the pitch to take on our top-of-the-league opposition Cambridge Uni L4s. Although the game was defensive from the off, our defenders (Julie, Elly, Avi, Lauren, Rebecca), as well as goalie Selene, worked tirelessly to clear balls from the D and for the majority of the first half they remained impenetrable to the opposition. Avi and midfielder Fi both took unfortunate bludgers to the face resulting in some real Halloween blood on the pitch (both players were fine and made quick recoveries with only potential for some good bruises!). Amidst all the commotion however, an unfortunate goal was scored by the opposition.

Second half followed a similar theme to the first, although with thankfully two less injured players and unfortunately two more goals from the opposition, ending in a 3-0 final score.

Not a bad result against our toughest opposition of the season! POM was joint between defenders Rebecca and Elly B for their strong and relentless defending.
