A Cinderella Story
Tess SkyrmeIt was a steamy start. Be warned 'away 2' changing room at Wilby following an afernoon of showers is rather warm. We couldn't hack it and decamped to the reception area.
Early doors the writing looked to be on the wall for Indi getting LOM. A last minute request for a pair of size 5 astros went round as she couldn't find hers. Votes surely secured.
The next drama - the news hit that over-running schedules left the time for a full match under threat. Flood lights which had to be turned off to appease the astronomy departments over the road - something I'm sure the star gazing CSHC ladies will ultimately apprecaite later this week though tbf.
So onwards; no on-pitch warm up, and sideline keeper training via Ed on the concrete. Tiff was on mad comms during the warm up to get rule clarification on shorter games and Tim rattled through tactics one oe one for the new formation with the gang.
Some game highlights:
-> Katie H back on the pitch for the first time in 2023 looking in tip top shape
-> Valiant defensive efforts keeping the young guns from the Uni team at bay
-> Incred saves from Lydia, including some nonchelant keepy uppies and putting her literal head on the line
-> Lovely work in attack, multiple shots on target - sadly all saved by the pesky keeper
-> POM votes for Daisy, great challenges and runs
-> POM votes for Charlotte, lovey runs and harassing players
-> POM votes for Beth, great 'scooping' and running
-> POM WINNER: Immy, 'outstanding' - enough said
A few low-lights, okay sure, we conceded twice. I also hear rumours that Anne was getting all kinds of physical grief from the oppo that wasn't appreciated.
But, overall - depsite a few weeks off and the onslought of a fresh faced uni side; we are playing better and better. On to the next and ready to start grabbing some more points in this league.
So - why no LOM for Cinderella Hornsby Cox with a missing shoe? Well, whilst Tess is already not renowned for organisational prowess, this week was exceptional chaos. Not only did she get half way down the M11 before rememebring the kit bag was unattended in the car park, she also managed to input the score wrong into gms. Rest assureed all has now been resolved, but a last minute confession saw shoe-less Indi wriggle out of trouble. Visuals attached.
