Pedzi can, Pelis can't
Georgia GrandIt was a wobbly start for the L6s this Saturday. Both captains (LOMs) arrived late in what seems to have become a habit for away games. Ruth ominously lost the coin toss for the first time this season, and November rain started as the Pelicans took pushback. In the first half of the game, there was no shortage of L6s falling over as they got used to the slippery KL pitch.
A couple of teammates were switched on from the first whistle, however, and helped kick South players into gear. On the right, Sarah was giving Esther wings as her sideline passes consistently connected with Esther’s stick further up the pitch. Esther made some lovely runs down in midfield - the team narrowly missed out on some early goals. Their performance was impressive, earning them both many POM nominations.
Into the second half, action around the D continued. The L6s were struggling to convert opportunities into a goal. At a key moment, forward player Pedzi received the ball on the P spot and hit it through the keeper’s feet. The L6s celebrated the hard earned goal as the ball hit the backboard, and set up for the rest of the game. Efforts were made to retain possession with easy passes.
Finally, the game ended with a clean sheet for the South team, who remain undefeated this season. For this week at least, they’ve claimed the top of the table. The L6s look forward to next week’s development game against Huntingdon 2s, in which Elly will make a (hopefully timely) comeback as captain...
PS thank you to Lou W for coming up with this title :D
