CSHC M3 vs Nomads 2s   20/1/2024

With match day looming, cold-weather related conjecture was in the air, much like the 4:30AM frost, witnessed in Trumpington on the dawn of d-d-d-D-day. By the morning, it was a classic deadline call from none-other than our resident weather reporter Joe Whittaker, who normally rains goals instead. With the last minute green light, the lads descended upon Long Road with the speed and determination of a category 5 hurricane, the likes of which we had not seen since 1 week prior. It’s been a wild 2024 already, and it’s still January.

Rewatching the veo highlights has really been a joy. In summary, we had the upper hand most of the game bar the odd mistake… Walshy finished off a scrappy goal by reacting first from a Jack/Joe/Chris shotfest. Shin finished a move where we turned over their 16 with great pressure from Menzies and Jack within the press. The reformed Ali Hart got a green for a horrendous stick tackle which was a vivid throwback to his previous life in the M2s. For his troubles, Alex H was having himself a quality game as per, but took a deflection to his nose. He bravely marched off to Addy’s, and updated us saying that he was alright. Rest well Alex, and see you back in training and in the lineup soon!

Overall, there were some outstanding individual performances, with everyone pulling together and putting in a good shift. Walshy was given the player of the match award for his first goal of the season and general strong gameplay. Shin was given lemon for his overly eager pitch inspection at 4:30AM. What he was doing up at that time, we will never know… perhaps conjecture is once again up in the air.
