L6s fight on
Pedzisai GororoSt Ives was better prepared for L6s this time. As temperatures kept plummeting it was clear within the first 10 mins of the game that St Ives was in it to win. L6s had a strong defence Elly, Laura and Sophia. Our new goalie Lauren Dee quickly became our favourite goalie, second to Claire of course, refusing to let goals in by any means necessary, jumping in front of the ball like cat woman. By half time L6s were down 1-0, but that didn’t dampen our spirits, we came back more determined with our game faces on, almost freezing to death and played like our lives depended on it. L6s got some short corners but unfortunately the captain’s swing wasn’t swinging like it usually does, maybe it was an injury prior or maybe we needed Nicky, who knows. The game was evenly distributed and we had some good runs from our VC Georgia who really kept these defenders on their toes. At one point we overheard St Ives shouting keep an eye on that one referring to VC Georgia apparently she kept appearing and disappearing as if she was some type of ghost. L6s held it down for some time with defender Elly falling in-front of an attacker then swiftly getting up and caught up with attacker from St Ives preventing them from scoring. No one could get past defenders Laura Edge and Sophie D’Arcy either. St Ives had several short corners but oh man they just kept missing the goal. Advantageous to us for sure. Sadly St Ives scored two more goals and the end result being 0-3 to St Ives. Amazing how we went from not conceding a goal to allowing 3 in one game. A big thank you to L5 players Harry Lusty, Lauren Dee and Kat Gibson for helping us with numbers, couldn’t have done it without them. POM was awarded to Lauren Dee for amazing goal keeping and for LOM we had three, May Mcool for some altercation with a player, Lauren Dee for not paying attention when walking and walking into things she shouldn’t be and finally Pedzisai Gororo for apparently running in to everything without looking.
