A victorious trip out

Mel Aksoy

The ladies 3’s were off to a great start when Meleni arrived 10 minutes before the start of the match, thinking push back time was the meeting time. She then proceeded to injure her back during the warm up within 5 minutes of being there, leaving the team with one sub.

The first half seemed to be quite even with South having a good few chances on goal, although unsuccessful. St Neots managed to get some balls down to our end which was met with a strong defence from Hannah, Imogen and Ginny. Katy stepped up as goalkeeper and made some great saves despite wearing a helmet that was mouldy and causing her skin to itch. There was a lot of turnover from both sides as the play was being forced down the middle of the pitch but the ball was always quickly back at the oppositions end. By the end of the first half the score was 0-0.

At half time spirits were high.

The second half seemed to be like watching an entirely different match. The team played with a synergy not seen in the first half. There were amazing switches around the back paired with amazing runs up the pitch by players like daisy, Charlotte, Steph, Emily, Lucy and Connie. Indi and Jess were quick to meet the ball and keeping play in the oppositions half. Emily managed to get a hat-trick and Lucy scored her first ever goal for South!  The match ended with a score of 4-0.

MOM was joint between Lucy for scoring the goal of dreams and Connie for distributing like a senior player.

LOM went to Meleni who turned up for a lovely day out.
