L3 1-3 City of Peterborough Ladies 3
Katie HunterFrom the get go we all knew this week would be a tough match. After an inspiring team talk from newly-returned Tiff (welcome back!) we set out to show how much we had improved since our last meeting with Peterborough.
Unfortunately the first few minutes didn’t quite go to plan and we conceded an early goal from a short corner. However this didn’t deter us. We kept our heads and worked as a team to create chances. The screens and mids worked hard to block out any major threats, and we moved the ball efficiently up the pitch to put Peterborough under pressure. Thankfully one of these paid off as Charlotte managed to get one in the back of the net shortly before half time, putting us a level pegging.
The second half started well as we kept up our momentum, but as legs started to tire Peterborough kept up the attack. They managed to score two more goals before the final whistle, but we kept our composure and played some really great hockey despite being under a lot of pressure.
POM went to Jess for some fantastic play as screen, nullifying threats and distributing the ball fantastically. LOM went to Katie for managing to wear her mask upside down during a short corner, which may, or may not, have obstructed her vision.
