Our early home game started bright and early with 8am messages about frost (who knew there was still a risk games could be cancelled at this point). Cue a flurry of frantic messages in the team WhatsApp group (and spond with the umpires), but sadly no accidental butt-dial from Steph this time.

Whilst the university team trickled into the warmth of the changing rooms, the L3s were seen instead shoveling away at the frost-covered ground. There were some interesting shoveling techniques and team shuffle runs up and down the frosted area —not quite the normal team warm up and abs and calves were on fire.

But once the pitch was finally cleared and the game kicked off under the bright sunshine, things got heated real quick. The university team wasted little time racking up a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half.

Despite some fast runs and interceptions from the attacking mids and forwards, and even a daring one-on-one with the goalie, the L3s just couldn't find the back of the net. Meanwhile, on the sidelines, Tim was seen munching on a pre-M1s game salad, and he ended up giving Tess's notepad a new look with a soy sauce spill.

After a pep talk at half time and starting with a 0-0 attitude, the L3s came out swinging in the second half, with the back 5 defending the goal like their lives depended on it. We succeeded in drawing in the second half, but sadly, the final scoreboard didn't get the memo.

In the end, despite feeling a bit deflated about the final score, it was a lovely day to be out playing hockey in the beautiful sunshine.
