M3 4-2 Spalding Mens 2

Ali Hart

In a clash between Cambridge South Men's 3's and Spalding, the pitch was set for a rollercoaster ride of hilarity and unexpected antics. The stage was set, but Captain Catley, known for his impeccable sense of responsibility, decided to throw caution to the wind and skive off his penultimate game of captaincy, leaving poor Seb Dias to man the ship. Little did he know what chaos would ensue!

The chaos began even before the whistle blew, with Ali Hart's untimely tardiness due to a misread meet time. His delayed arrival ultimately earned him the dubious honour of the "Lemon of the Match" title, a fitting punishment for his timekeeping mishap. Meanwhile, Menzies also fell victim to the misread meet time curse, but thanks to Gando and his F1 car-like reflexes, disaster was averted.

As the game kicked off, Cambridge South stormed to an early 2-0 lead, only to have their momentum halted by George Toynton's infamous two-footed tackle on a small child, resulting in a penalty flick. And let's not forget the second goal, attributed to some questionable communication at the back.

Chalky, ever the whirlwind of chaos, unleashed his faithful spinning tornado move, which unfortunately resulted in a small child's nose meeting the business end of his stick. The halftime team talk was tense, made even more so by Alex's attempted theft of the team's Jelly Babies, a crime not to be taken lightly.

But fear not, for the second half saw Cambridge South rejuvenated and ready to take on whatever absurdities the game threw their way. With Gando's thunderous slaps and Menzies' uncanny ability to find the perfect deflection, they managed to secure two spectacular short-corner goals, sealing their victory with a final score of 4-2.

And so, amidst the chaos, laughter, and occasional nosebleed, Cambridge South Men's 3's emerged triumphant, proving once again that in the wacky world of hockey, anything can happen, especially when Captain Catley decides to take a day off. Now the mighty South M3's who have already secured promotion will take on Wisbech to secure their title and superiority over the league.
