The last 10 seconds

Jess Foord

The last 10 seconds we won't want to remember.

"Have you got ankles?" "Run, blob, run!" "I'll cry into my pizza!"

1-0 down first half! They had lots of chances with short corners but our incredible defence and Lydia kept them at bay. I believe there were a few tumbles and some sticks in the air (seemed to be a theme on Saturday, read L1s match report!)

Big team talk from Paul at half time. Passing ahead of players, being patient on the ball, meeting the ball and being quicker into double teaming.

2nd half, first 30 secs. St Ives PB, passed back to their team, Jess tackled, got the ball passed to Cait, continued running, Cait made a lovely weighted pass to Jess, goalie came running out, Jess reverse stick passed away from goalie to find Emily B who reverse slapped the ball into the goal - stunning! Adrenaline high.
South turned up the tempo, kept fighting, so did St Ives.

That's it, the game must be over. No last 10 secs, St Ives score. 2-1 to them, whoops and dammit!

Heartbreak, sadness, and defeat on and off the pitch but a great game of hockey all round that could have been anyone's. Alas, it was not ours!

The 2s will continue fighting - win, draw and lose as a team that's the south way!

Pom votes for most of the team which showed what a game it was but Lydia was our winner showing huge composure in the goal and being a superstar.

Lom was very close for Jenny asking "have you got ankles?" and Rebecca for chucking her stick but in the end Emily recieved LOM for almost breaking her ankle falling off the curb in the warm up.
