Mathematical messages
Sandy TaylorThis is our third match in a row losing by 6-0. In popular culture 666 is the "number of the beast", but scientific numerologists know this to be only a modern confusion. In fact 666 is a powerful "angel number" and is actually a positive sign that your guardian angels are sending you an important message. There is some disagreement about what exactly that message is, but it's definitely a good thing involving positive energy and optimism. Fortunately that's what we're all about, thanks angels.
Anyone doubting this sign may like to note that we've been down 2-0 at half time of every game. 222 is also an angel number. To quote astrology.com, "Your angels are telling you that you have the power to make your dreams a reality if you maintain a positive mindset and trust in the universe to bring you what you need." What a nice message, we're all dreaming of a win next week!
The game itself was actually an excellent outing. All three of these recent games have been against strong teams who we wouldn't normally play and who would likely be at least a division above us in the league if we shared a league geographical region. Unfortunately the constant scoreline obscures the fact that each opponent has been better than the last, so our improving performance doesn't show in the result.
This was actually the best game of the three, with clear improvement just as we'd hope for the pre-season period. Communication and movement have been the big messages in the team talks, and credit to everyone for taking this forward into the game. We manufactured much better shapes and chances than in the preceding week, winning a number of penalty corners and chances even if we didn't actually convert any. That's what it's all about, no defence can keep the ball out the net forever.
Miles took MoM for a standout performance in goal, significantly responsible for keeping the score gap to 6 and receiving some admiring comments from the opposition. Archie was the other primary nominee for an excellent game, among other things frequently smartly eliminating opposition players who overcommitted on the tackles in order to get the ball up midfield. This was a good game for everyone though, I really thought everyone worked together well with our biggest weakness perhaps being only inexperience in our formation and positions as we fill out the formation. It was especially nice to see Harry B again after a couple of years not playing, nevertheless very energetic and aggressive in midfield.
Andy T received an almost-unanimous lemon vote for arriving 30 minutes after pushback, although in fairness having spent all those 30 minutes following the misleading pitch signage to nowhere.
Miles Woodfin
Outstanding reaction saves throughout. Big shout out to Archie who received a few votes for solid play in midfield.
