Stop Marking Me Baby Girl

Emily Morris

On a baking hot humid day, the L2s embarked on their first game of the season in Newmarket.

The team didn’t know what to expect, Newmarket dropped down to our league so we were expecting a fight. However with a fresh new team, 2 rounds of name introductions and some encouraging words from our new captain Rhi we set off.

The first half was calm, controlled and full of fabulous communication. However no goals for either team.

After a cocktail of jelly babies and tangfastics we commenced the second half which brought more excitement and highlights such as Connie’s LOM moment where she misjudged her travelling thinking 1m was 5m. Some hairy short corners, some great zig zagging up the right line between Connie, Sophie and Zoe. However Newmarket got a lucky pick to score the first goal of the match. However the L2s fought back till the bitter end (literally) with Beth scoring a well-deserved goal in last 2 minutes. A happy draw!!

Shout out to the defenders who claimed most of the POM votes, despite each of them being out of their comfortable positions you all slayed (I’m not biased or anything). However the most notable defender, who kindly volunteered in the car, was Cordelia who got Player of the Match for some amazing defence, working the ball up the line and some fab clearances!! Thank you also to Freya for the delicious cakes.
