M2 1-1 Cambridge Nomads Mens 1
Alec AlstonOn a sunny Saturday afternoon, the ride from Merton Street to Cambridge South Hockey Club is a perfect blend of calm city streets and open greenery. You start by weaving through the historic lanes of Cambridge, passing quiet colleges and charming brick houses bathed in golden sunlight. The air feels fresh, and the trees lining the roads sway gently in the light breeze. As you pedal further, the streets widen, and you find yourself crossing the River Cam, its surface shimmering beneath the sun. The gentle hum of the city begins to fade as you head towards the more open spaces near the club, where fields stretch out in front of you. Cyclists and families are out enjoying the weather, and the buzz of the weekend fills the air. The smooth ride, with the warmth of the sun on your back, makes it a pleasant and refreshing journey, and a perfect warm up for a Saturday afternoon match.
Cambridge Nomads got the better of the early exchanges and might have been more than a goal ahead if not for Dave's excellent work in front of goal. As the game progressed, South began to find their rhythm, eventually forcing the equalizer. Pete drove the ball powerfully into the D, and Ed expertly guided it into the goal. Both teams created chances in pursuit of a winner, and as Nomads finished the stronger, they appeared to have sealed the game when awarded a penalty flick. However, Dave, in a man-of-the-match performance, pulled off another brilliant save, keeping the score level at 1-1.
