Hint: it starts with F and ends with D

It took teamwork, great leadership, and a lot of pasta to organize Friday night, and what a night it was. Two kilos of pasta were consumed, a lot of potato Smilies, and a great game analysis from Tim. A huge shout-out goes to Kate for cleaning the bathroom for Kerryn's arrival, and to Izzy M-P for some top-notch Carbs. Which I am sure we all would agree helped us prepare for the day to follow. Parsley thank you for making the delicious flapjack, they were definitely rated above the 7 million cookies that were brought alongside them.

On match day we also then got spoilt with more homemade treats by Hannah's lovely parents! There is a simple way to the hearts of the Cambridge South Lady’s Ones team, I will let you work that one out. Hint: it starts with F and ends with D.

And now to the bit you all came for, the match report. We were playing against a strong and very fit Ipswich Ladies Twos. There were definitely some highs and lows. Kate saving a goal on the line earning her MOM, was definitely up there with the highest height; and I think a person who shall not be named (thankfully not linked to our lovely club) kicking a player's water bottle on the sideline when he perceived a call was wrong, was probably a low point. I would have given him DOD, but I don't think it is worth considering how the match report would have looked if that had been the case. Instead, the DOD was awarded to Mathilda for what some would call MOM behavior throwing herself at the mercy of the Astro to deliver a pass (which she did), but my “army roll” was not viewed with such rose-tinted glasses.

There was some great play from every player on the pitch as always, A big shout out to Loopy for some 10/10 saves! And a quick mention of a play of hockey. In the final set of play Evie secured us a short corner and as the final whistle blew the ball we injected beautifully, drag flicked by Izzy S from the top D. The shot was on point but was sadly stopped just short of a goal. Meaning the final score was 0-0.

All in all, though some amazing tenacity was shown by the Women’s 1st team, and the re-match will definitely be exciting.
