Week 1 against Spalding 1s

Rhi Davies

We turning up to s drizzly Spalding pitch but we put the music up high and tried to stretch our legs after the long trip up. We knew this was going to be tough facing top of the league but we were ready and it was South that managed to get the first goal. A short corner, the only short corner for South in the whole match, was won and with a rebound off the keep Daisy slotted the ball in. 0-1, exactly what the captain had ask for. Spalding came back hard with some very skillful players who dribbled the ball through the middle and were themselves awarded a Short corner. A very well drill corner led to 1-1. The first half continued that way with opportunities for both side buy from great saves Zehra who was awarded POM keeper South in the match.

Second half saw Spalding come out fighting ans working the ball around the pitch. However, South kept the battle up and with a save off the line from both teams, it was definitely anyone's to win. Unfortunately, Spalding kept battling slipping a further 2 goals past South, one a very skillful individual goal, the other sadly again in the last couple of minutes a straight strike shot from the short corner finished the match. 3-1.

Onto the next Spalding team next week!
