In challenging weather conditions with confusing whistles from surrounding pitches, the L4s faced off against Cambridge University L4s. Despite the distractions, both teams played with high intensity throughout the match.
The first half saw both sides battling hard, but neither could break the deadlock. Cambridge Uni came out with a lot of energy, but our team matched their pace and worked together seamlessly, marking tightly and keeping the pressure high. We were resolute at the back and compact in midfield, which helped us neutralize their attacking threats.
At half-time, the score was 0-0, but the L4s were feeling confident. The key moment came early in the second half. Right off the push-back, Claudia made an incredible run down the baseline, driving into the D and expertly injecting the ball across the face of goal. Naomi was in the perfect position at the post to tap it in for the opening goal. The goal sparked a huge celebration from the team, which gave us the momentum to keep up the pressure and maintain our intensity for the remainder of the game.
Despite a few late surges from Cambridge, our defence stood strong, and we closed out the match with a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Overall, a well-deserved win with a solid team performance, showing resilience and teamwork from start to finish.
