A brilliant performance for a team with no subs!

' We did brilliantly for a team with no subs!'

A quote from our coach on the sidelines, Chris, which sums up the game well. We gathered at Long Road feeling a little apprehensive knowing we had no subs this week but got ourselves ready to play. Our trooper of a goalie, Elly, kitted updespite feeling unwell and took us up to a full team of 11.

The first half started off brilliantly with some lovely play up the pitch resulting in a short and a goal scored by Tilly 6 minutes in. Feeling confident we reset and continued with some strong defending at the back, successful passes up the wing and a few close chances in the D from our forwards. Nomad did manage to slip one past us leaving the score 1-1 at half time.

After a pep talk from Chris at half time, we started off the first half with more lovely hockey, Sophie, Charlotte and Anna all having some great shots on goal but we were unable to convert. Frustratingly, Nomad scored again after some slight confusion in the D and we ended the game on a short where Nomad’s got a third goal past us.

A frustrating end to a game where the team played brilliantly and there was some great hockey across all parts of the pitch. We had a debrief from Chris and left feeling positive and with a huge appreciation for goalie and captain Elly. Fi was so positive in fact that she joined in with Nomad’s three cheersfor South, earning herself Lemon.

Rest up and get well soon everyone :)
