South L4s vs Wisbech Town 2s
Lou ClarkeLadies 4s took on Wisbech L2s battling against Storm Darragh, leading to a 4-1 win at home. Despite a slow start in challenging weather conditions, some great attacking play saw Kendra secure an early goal. South continued to push hard with great linking through midfield leading to a second goal by Lou. 2-0 at half time and with the bonus of having Nev on the sidelines we were on course for a great end of the year!
Wisbech had a point to prove and came back hard in the second half, with great saves from Zehra in goal. El, Julie and Faye were solid in defence, linking in perfectly with Becky who distributed the ball upfield and created a lot of trouble for Wisbech.
The second half saw Wisbech sneak their first goal, but South were quick to respond with two more goals in return. Lou scored her second goal of the match; whilst Becky picked out Cat on the post in a text book piece of play to take the score to 4-1.
Despite going down to 10 players at one point following a sin bin, South held onto victory and defended tirelessly against Wisbech’s relentless forward line.
A brilliant end to the first half of the season, player of the match went to Becky for a great game, working tirelessly in midfield and intercepting Wisbech at every opportunity. Lemon went to El for a spectacular free hit which lead to her wiping herself out, we can blame Darragh for that one!
