Short and Sweet

It seemed unfair for Mo to write this again – especially given one of her Lemon Votes was based on a comment about being genuinely very happy about being able to wear a bra during a ECG (or something to that effect!), so here is a brief report of the long awaited Derby Day from the Captains’ perspectives.

As per usual, the hype around this day is always large! Even more so as the day promised a range of cakes and a Ladies Social after a suit of Derby matches! Well played Social Secs, Well played!

We arrived at Long Road, having not played hockey for the best part of 2 months, but with our game faces on! Coco, one of our squad’s newest player kindly stepped up to make sure we had a fair game – to quote Harry Potter ‘I want a nice clean game, from ALL of you!’.

And a nice clean game we did have! The threes played a stonker of a game (if we say so ourselves) – cajoled and encouraged by the coach himself – the Honouree Ed (rumour has it he was VERY proud!) – the team played as a unit – almost a hive mind. Crisp, quick passes, using the back passes like pros, shooting at the goals more times than we can count!

The twos did manage to sneak a goal past us in the first half, but overall, we think this is the best we have played so far in this league and are STOKED for the next half!

We aren’t going to name drop everyone (hive mind remember) but would like to make a special mention of our Player of the Match – Erin – who had a FAB game with her hot pink new stick! We would also like to have a special mention to our two newest team members – Coco – already winning the top sportsmanship award, and Kristina – slipping into the defence line as if she has been there all along!
