Robbie Burns inspired match report

Rachael Marr

O Spalding 1s, ye held yer ground,

Top o’ the league, so fierce, renowned.

Wi’ but two minutes barely gone,

A short corner struck, yer first was won.

Wi’ cunning play, we earned our due,

A corner worked wi’ teamwork true.

Though fate decreed the ball’s wee flight

Struck Spalding’s foot, denied outright.

Yet fear nae! Jess, wi’ nerves sae steady,

Stepped forth tae prove her moment ready.

A penalty flick, she struck it clean,

Her first for South—a goal supreme!

The score was level, the team did cheer,

The buzz was strong, we showed no fear.

But Spalding broke wi’ cunning pace,

A second goal to claim their place.

At half, ’twas 2-1, the fight still near,

Our spirits high, our purpose clear.

The second half? A murky tale,

Wi’ four more goals to tip the scale.

Though one did dribble off the pitch,

We’ll no’ cry foul or start to twitch.

Yet South held firm, our heads held high,

Wi’ passes flowing, swift and spry.

Amelia’s moves, a sight tae see,

And Coco’s debut? Aye, pure glee!

Though Spalding’s keeper stole the show,

Our hearts stayed high, through ebb and flow.

A nod to POM Luisa’s strong defense,

Her tackles sharp, her skill immense.

And Rachael, LOM, a Scott so proud,

For Burns Night’s joy, she sang aloud.

Though victory slipped through our hands,

The vibes stayed high—our steadfast stand.

So here’s tae South, wi’ hearts so bright,

We’ll fight again wi’ all our might.

Through grit and grace, we’ll make our mark,

A brighter day’s no’ far, take heart!
