Trip to the Beach (Almost)
Freya LockwoodWe turn up at Kettering’s home pitch (well almost all of us, Cait and her passenger princess Rebecca were so excited for teas they went there first), to find that the subs would be able to make sandcastles on the sidelines. Not ideal, but we did go on to score in the first 5 minutes! Courtesy of Amelia, a brilliant bit of link up play and a cool finish.
1-0 up and pressing for another, but unfortunately a Kettering forward intercepted a defensive free hit and got the better of Lu 1v1, a good finish, bottom corner. Unlucky, but we go on. The majority of the play was in the kettering half, with some good build up play but no shots hitting the backboard. Kettering secured a short corner and scored their 2nd with an unstoppable strike. The kind of goal you just have to say ‘fair play’.
The 2nd half was similar to the first in that south had lots of possession, and Kettering’s chances came on the break, but all were kept out by the defence (big shoutout to Becky for stepping up to help out in defence and doing a fantastic job!). Late on in the 2nd half, Emily levels the scoring, a cheeky shot through the keepers legs, set up by Liv, who’s endless running earned her some POM votes. The last 5 mins was all played in the Kettering D, but to no avail. 2-2, a tough one to take against a struggling side but we now look to our next match against top of the league!
POM- Amelia, great opening goal and constant running up front
LOM- Cait, going to teas first, and leaving her stick on the pitch after! Silly sausage.

Cait Fisher
Very eager for teas, getting there before the match and then leaving her stick on the pitch after
