A keeper's point of view

Louise Robeson

We showed up to long road at 12:30 to sit in the dark because neither the lighting or the emergency lighting worked. Liv couldn’t feel her toes, and half the team felt weirdly nauseous - maybe because we were playing top of the league? Katy and Beth showed up half an hour late but it gave Liv enough time to thaw her feet and we all got running.

Match started 10 minutes late, to build up anticipation. We started strong, got some shorts, they had a short, saves were made at both ends of the pitch (mine were better). 7 minutes in and Charlotte got a gorgeous field goal- go south! It’s a good thing rhi didn’t ask for it in the first 5 minutes. 7 minutes later and st Ives had a foot on the goal line - p flick for south. Liv stepped up like the legend she is and scored with a mid height left side flick- which are a nightmare to save at the best of times. 2-0 up. We looked solid from the back , I did some general shouting. Then we got a short , 27min in, it wasn’t the routine we’d planned to execute but it worked all the same with em at the top and a deflection from Cait putting us 3-0 up with 7 min to go. 2 minutes was called. 30s left. St Ives got a goal. We don’t talk about it.

3-1 score at half time happened. We gave ourselves a pep talk about calling it 0-0 for the second half but we were too happy about being ahead.

Second half felt twice as long as it was meant to with a green card to St Ives for arguing with nev, then 5 min stopped time to discuss the argument with captains. There were then some dangerous balls and dodgy stick tackles with more stopped time. I got to do a sliding save. I also head butted a St Ives player for being in the way. I may or may not of ignored a ball I should’ve saved, but it was fine because she kicked it anyway and I definitely had it covered. The final whistle blew with no goals in the very long second half.

Pizza was yummy.

MOTM- Sophie - welcome to the team with some amazing play to debut

LOTM- Lu- apparently I can’t head butt the opposition?
