Beats, bakes and bruises

Another Saturday, another outing, this time at Wilby for an 11am pushback, dreamy. Steph brought the mega speakers to pump up the good vibes and get the energy going. With 5 subs, we certainly had it. Ed gave us our ever inspiring team talk in person and we were ready to rumble.
*As you may well have seen, the huns came up short with a 2-1 scoreline.

After winning the toss, we had a less desirable start, as the opposition struck twice early, taking a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes. But that did not dampen the L3s' determination or energy. From that point forward, we settled into our game and found our style, making some brilliant play up the pitch, utilizing transfers back and round to exploit free channels and push further up the pitch. The forwards created multiple chances, culminating in plenty of short corners and shots on target. Coco came through and pulled out a cracking goal, her first for South! Back in it, 2-1.
Despite some close calls and relentless pressure, the equalizing goal just didn't come. What did come was many balls fired at pace and strength from Nomads, many of which managed to deflect and find South's flesh, particularly faces. Not good vibes. Good vibes were subs,  either at the ready to get back on the pitch, or help with icepacks. Or shout, which with the final two minutes, there was a lot of. That equalizing goal was just that close.

The final scoreline doesn’t reflect the effort put in and the dominance of our game, as we certainly should have at least come away with a point. The huns can certainly take pride in their performance and celebrated all the same with carbs aplenty, pasties, cookies and cake.

POM votes were spread across the team: to Coco for her awesome goal, Emily for fabulous play in forward and Annabel for her ever solid defence and distribution. Harry came away with the POM title for endless hard work in midfield, putting in a shift 'here and there'.
There were a few main contenders for LOM, notably Tina for chucking her stick after an outstretched tackle in a last ditch effort to delay play, and Coco and Libby together for both playing left inner for a fair time. Pimms came away with the lemon, a birthday lemon, which was clearly too good a title to not use.

When Pimms has a birthday she must be served with a slice of lemon.
