Cambridge South L6s played Wisbech Town 3s today. The match started on a nervous note, as Lauren turned up 2 minutes before push back and our goal keeper Zehra turned up at push back and had to kit up before running on a few minutes in. Despite this, the game started well - we were in the opposition d almost straight away.
We got a short corner just before Zehra was ready and we were very happy not to concede.
The game proceeded a lot better once we had a full team. Zehra made some impressive saves that included some sliding saves! We conceded a great goal from Wisbech on the top left of the goal. However shortly afterwards Sophie converted a shot in from Rosie to level the score. At one point there was a leg preventing one goal, which resulted in a penalty flick. Zehra saved it.
Half time ended 1 all.
We had quite a lot of possession and worked the ball up the pitch beautifully. Freya and Astrid supporting the mid field of Josie, Sophie and Rosie get the ball up the pitch to Lauren, Pedzi and Alice at the top of the pitch.
Unfortunately we gave away quite a few short corners by touching the ball with our feet. Wisbech were strong on their short corners, with one of the players having a strong hit. Zehra did a great job saving them, but unfortunately one went straight past her into the corner.
Quite soon after, Alice got a goal, supported by Pedzi. Josie was valiant in continuing to play after bruising her arms from running into the fence from a fast run to the  baseline and couldn't stop.
Wisbech sadly got 2 further goals despite strong defence from defence of Astrid, Freya, Lottie and Sarah.
We finished the match disappointed in the scoreline, but very happy with our efforts and feeling like the game was very even.
Player of the match went to Sophie and Alice for their goals, Zehra and Astrid for her strong defence. Lemon went to Lyra, who was meant to play, but didn't turn up.

Special mention to Josie who played incredibly well despite both a hand and knee injured during the game.
