Draws across the board

Freya Lockwood

The sun has finally returned after a long hard winter (it will probably disappear just as quick but we’ll enjoy it whilst we can) and we had a tough game against city 5s to contend with. Captain Rhi was a casual 45mins late (too much boogie-ing the night before) despite the delayed pushback, but with an almost full squad we were ready for the challenge. City started quick, winning a couple of short corners in the first 5 mins. One of these was converted, a bit of a lucky goal if you ask me, deflecting off my stick and then also Selenes pad. Apart from that, we soaked up the pressure well, with some nice transfers and balls down the line. Half time 1-0, but spirits were not dampened, we still had fight in us.

The opening exchanges of the 2nd half saw some incredible hockey (you were all told you’d witness this if you came to watch by admin zoë on the Instagram) and shots were fired at the city goal, unfortunately going just wide. City had a fair bit of possession, winning a few shorts, and a couple of 1v1s but the defence kept it out and Selene made some super duper saves. Getting close to full time, 1 last flurry forward and BANG! Beth delicately flicks the ball into the net, 1-1. Felt like a win because we left it so late. 1 more point to the tally keeps us in front of city in the league, and only 1 point from pelis in 4th! We look forward to meeting them on the last day of the season!

POM: Hayley & Sophie our super screens doing super screen stuff.

LOM: Rhi & Zoë our repeat-offender LOMs - Zoë for suggesting using a credit card to cut the cake she baked. Rhi for being casually late. Rhi hangs on to her narrow in the LOM race.

Too much boogieing the night before, meant not enough moving in the morning.
