According to the British Deer society, as many as 50,000 deers fall victim to poaching every year. This is a lucrative business for organised crime gangs. 

In our case, just one Cambridge South player has fallen victim. No organised crime gangs were formed, just myself egged on by the sports fans favourite Kimberly Pearson. My 6 year goal drought is over with a poached tap in. A goal is a goal, right KP**? First goal for Cambridge South was a banger…

Anyway, on international women’s day, the Ladies 1s travelled in the sunshine to Ipswich and East Suffolk, determined to enjoy it and score some goals. Goals and lols were what we got! This girl can. 

The energy was high and the pressure on IES was high. Eventually we broke through with Hannah Snow slotting one in the corner, far from poached. This then opened the flood gates for the rest with our most elusive deer Mollie Blower quickly following 2 minutes later. Again no poaching. Izzy MP picked up the ball, rolled and scored, text book deer safety.

Half time came. Kim told Izzy to f**k her up and from there, a description of the rest is a blur. We were relentless and the IES poachers were helpless. Further goals came from Izzy MP, Hannah, Maddy, Izzy P and of course myself. No poaching from anyone else was witnessed. It is worth mentioning Izzy MP’s was a worldie backhand from the top of the D, mine was not. There were also many team goals, mine was not.

Overall we finally enjoyed the hockey and finally played the hockey we are capable of. A successful international women’s day. Bring on next week!
