The L5s had just managed to pull together 11 people for the trip to play the already-league-champions March on a warm and humid day. As expected, it was a tough game but the 5s worked hard and played well as a team. With no GK available, Polly bravely stepped into the net, and did a fantastic job – the highlight being when she palmed away a shot bound for the top of the net and sent it over the bar instead.

Molly and Amy worked tirelessly, with energetic runs up the wing. The defence had another busy day. Nic worked her socks off, pushing up to support the midfield. Tilly had another great game, always in the right place and full of energy.

Elly made lots of her usual great block tackles, and also provided a comedy moment when, taking a hit-out with no one near her, she inexplicably used the back stick to give away a short corner. This was not deemed quite as lemon-worthy as Lou’s accidental block tackle on Hattie.

A win today would have seen the 5s safe in the league for another season – now we have to ensure a win next weekend, or hope other results go the right way. Go 5s!
