We arrived at Ely on a very sunny Sunday that seemed more apt for a beer than a hockey match. We started off a bit dazzled looking into the sun which made it particularly difficult to move the ball out of the defence and up the pitch. That said, some fab hassling in defence and runs up front gave us a few opportunities at goal.

The second half saw some unusual tactics from South - Jo's declaration that he was running one in a defensive short, bedecked in goalie kit was, in fact, not a joke. But it worked! We also had a truly spectacular pick by Matt K right into the back of the net. The only problem being it was our own goal...

LOM was highly contested with no goals, own goals, dramatic rolls and sunglasses. Apparently forgetting your sunglasses are on your head and having to lob them off the side is LOM-worthy. Once? Somewhat understandable. Twice? A bit embarrassing....

In the end we lost 2-0 but a great game was had by all with 8 different players getting POM votes, some incredible tackles and constant running despite the heat!
