L5 1-4 Cambridge Nomads Ladies 2

Freya Dall’Omo

The second match of the season had a similar result to last weekend for the L5s, however this week was much more comfortable as the team is getting used to playing together. Nomads started strong and managed to score two goals early in the game, one from a short corner, which put South down early. We kept up the pace and energy despite the heat and sun in our eyes and won a p flick! Anna delivered a lovely ball, however Nomads keeper got a hand to it and stopped South from scoring. Our defense and midfield worked well together, defending a series of short corners, while the forwards made some excellent runs, and Lou made some brilliant saves as stand-in keeper. However, Nomads managed to score an additional goal putting the L5s 3-0 down at half time. We went into the second half much stronger with some excellent attacking shorts and strong strikes from Amy, one of which found Elodie on the post who put it in the net! Unfortunately, Nomads scored again making the result 4-1. Despite the scoreline, the L5s are starting to find our rhythm, and with each week are getting used to playing together as a team. The focus for us is to work on our attacking shorts and hopefully convert some into goals. Player of the match went to Anna for her excellent energy and her ‘p spot bravery’.

Energy in defence and being the one brave enough to take a p-flick
