The Teams morning:

Indi Hornsby-Cox

Our team of defenders* and one forward started bright and early one fine and windy Saturday morning. Out of position and raring to go, we turned up at Long Road reminissing of our time at St Ives when the goal kept blowing off the line.

Pre-warned on Friday night that superheroes was the theme, we all came (un)prepared and ready for Coach Ed's pre-match talk.

Still awaiting Coach Ed's arrival, we started the match and played some *chefs kiss* hockey, summoning our training of a line ball from our defence, a baseline run and pass to Bex, for a post tap in from Indi, we neatly put one away early. Some splended hockey later, opportunities and build-up from passing to each other, we were SO close but nothing came to fruition, with chaos yet to ensue.

Chaos ensued shortly after, with 10 mins to go of the first half when the substitutions happened and our team of defence, really did turn into a team of defence, once our only forward, subbed off and we couldn't work out the difference between forward and mid. ALAS. Half-time.

Wise and positive words later in addition to reminding ourselves that it was 1-0 and that though we had domianted, we couldn't get complacent, we started the second half. Still awaiting Coach Ed's arrival, we started with some good hockey and teamwork. Kettering fought hard and had a position re-jig making it harder for us. With short corners happening at both ends and a couple of misses off their post, we stuck to our routines and bish bash bosh, it happened. Harry's Tuesday post-man training paid off and the second was in with one b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l slap across the D from Lou. Round of applause to us all, we could finally breathe that it was 2 and not 1

The game finished with a little more chaos, just to make sure our team of defenders still knew how to defend - got to keep us on our toes and we obviously didn't want Selene to miss out or get bored either.

Relieved that we played before the rain and in the sun, POM and LOM was voted for in QE. Votes spread across the team, Bex trumped it and took the glory with her fabulous runs, interceptions and class hockey. LOM was a competitive one, with Ed coming out on top, but throwing it straight back to our runners up Hannah and Indi. Han for squeaking (more than once apparently) and Indi, well, your guess is as good as mine.

*9 of our players were defenders

Our Coaches morning (primary lemon):

The day started at 7.45am popping to the builders merchants Huews Grey in Saffron Walden to collect some bags of multi-finish plaster and some bits and bobs for work, whilst catching up with an school friend who works there.

When I got home I had a lovely bagel with fried eggs for breakfast. I then got a lift to Audley End station to get the train into Cambridge instead of driving - how eco of me. Before I left I double checked the trains, as some storm was about, however all was good on the timetable and even when I arrived, it was all was fine.

As time ticked by, there was a couple mins delay. Now past 9.50am, when my train was meant to arive, a sudden anouncement said that the train willl arive 30 mins late. I thought to myself, this is not the end of the world as it only meant I'd miss 10mins of the L3s game, therefore still plenty to see.

20 mins later the delays continued with a voice from the sky announcing that the train is just delayed with no time. After a few mins someone asked a staff member if there was a chance of a train and alas, no there was not - we had no power on the lines. Obviously, they decided not to tell us that untill we pestered them for an answer, to which point everyone left. Calling for Dad cabs to pick me up and drive into Cambridge (less eco now) arriving at Long Road just in time to watch the last 10 mins of play and a fantastic 2nd goal from the team.
