L5 1-10 Pelicans Ladies 2

Rebecca Jarvis

It was a tough afternoon in King’s Lynn for Cambridge South, who faced a strong and well-drilled Pelicans side. Despite the final scoreline, the team showed grit and determination throughout, continuing to battle until the final whistle.

Pelicans came out strong, taking advantage of their home turf and converting early opportunities. Cambridge South worked hard to regain structure and managed to string together some positive passages of play, rewarded with a well-deserved goal that lifted team spirits.

There were flashes of excellent defensive work and some brave saves, but ultimately Pelicans’ consistent attacking pressure proved too much on the day.

Player of the Match (POM):

Lydia – A tireless performance, constantly tracking back and pushing forward to create chances. Her work rate and commitment stood out, earning her a clear majority of the votes.*

Lemon of the Match (LOM):

Sat Nav – For some questionable navigation moments (we assume both on and off the pitch!), narrowly edging out “Lauren – hair” in the voting.

Despite the scoreline, there were plenty of positives to build on as Cambridge South look ahead to their next fixture — and perhaps a slightly shorter journey than King’s Lynn next time!

*This match report was brought to you with the help of AI. It did a pretty good job apart from Lydia’s PoM vote which was of course for making lots of brilliant saves. It would be a bit worrying if the GK was tracking back and forth up the pitch!
