Respect is earned
Katie CrawfordWe kicked off the day in style with a breakfast fit for kings at Chef Kim’s -bacon rolls all round. The conversation took a wild turn when we discovered Liv washes her dog more of than Tildy showers - questionable hygiene.
Fuelled by Lurpak (anything else is a crime), we hit the road to Peterborough ready to show them what we’ve got.
Pre-match mantra? Respect is earned, not given.
Here is what we do respect:
Jenny’s casual flex of 7 a-levels
Sign language at the breakfast table
Katie’s odd socks - fashion icon?
Banging match teas (jacket potato and cheesy beans are elite)
We do not respect:
Backsides in faces
Multiple sticks in tackles
Not saying sorry
Bringing more coaches than players
The game started with Peterborough coming out strong, but while we were a bit nervy at first, it didn’t take long for South to find our footing. Our defence held firm with some standout play from MOM Lucy. Peterborough were lucky to sneak into half time 1-0 up but we had them sweating.
The pep talk at half time brought us into the second half all engines firing. Somehow they scored two more goals but we weren’t leaving without a bang. Final whistle. Short corner. Tildy. Beautiful goal. No clean sheet for Peterborough.
We may not have bagged the win but we earned each others respect and maybe even Peterborough’s.
