South 3s take home a strong 7-1 victory this weekend against Sutton L1s. Starting off strong in the first half with a beautiful goal scored by Marisa!
however, Sutton’s strong line of hitters down their back line, started to creep trough our press, and quickly after our own goal, we conceded one! Bringing the score up to 1-1.

We swiftly bounced back, resetting our positions and holding a stronger press against their hits through the middle, this we found essential.

Whistle blew and it was half time already!
With a team talk on using space and playing our own hockey. And not stray sweet in sight this week. We went into the second half with Steph’s wise pre match fist bump talk keeping us all in high spirits, boosting our morale and determination to score just one more goal, to break the tie.

So we set up again, stronger than ever, and started the second half with some beautiful hockey round the back, and lovely spaces created by Indi and Gemma with their stunning runs. We were able to gradually push up. And score our second goal! Gemma’s slickly smooth skills slipping through there defences, and broke the tie. However, we didn’t let this carry us away, we kept our heads down, determined to not let in another of there goals. 

5 more goals were scored in succession, one more from Gemma, one each from Emily and Steph and 2 more from Marisa! What a hat-trick! We all watched in awe as one of her goals was a beautiful tomahawk, the audience held their breath as it soared through the sky. And roared as it hit the top corner of the net!!!

And myself with the title of LOM for hitting marisa in the head by accident during warm ups! Safe to say I won’t be practicing back sweeps for a wee wile!!!
