Goals galore on Halloweekend!
Zoë WatsonHalloween weekend saw a scary amount of goals from the team!
I (Zoë) secured my LOM votes early doors by turning up with no astros – apparently crocs in sports mode isn’t good enough. Big shout out to Ellie from the 4s who leant me hers after their match.
We started off a little shaky giving away a short that the opposition forward struck into the back of the net. Never fear Izzy came back a few minutes later and took us back to equal. We then had most of the possession but only 1 more goal in the first half from Katy B with a brilliant short corner strike.
Our squad of 15 meant we didn’t tire in the second half and came back with 4 more goals :) Critics would say (and Louisa’s dad did say..) that there could have been a whole lot more but we’re only taking the positives.
Goals came from Rhi, Zoë, Emily & Mo – Here Mo making her play for LOM by steeling Emilys 2nd goal on the line… (I don’t think there was much doubt that Emilys hit wasn’t making the back of the gaol but Mo thought she’d better make sure)
There was beautiful hockey all round with fabulous defence from the back line of Nic, Freya, Jenny & Katy, the screens Louisa, Harry & Katie M continued running throughout helping get the ball back to the right end of the pitch. Midfield was covered by Zoë, Coco & Rhi making some lovely passes up the line to the forwards Jess, Emily, Mo & Izzy who put themselves in some lovely positions to attack. And not forgetting Sélène who make some lovely saves in goal.
I redeemed my earlier forgetfulness and won joint POM with Jess (also shoutout to Mo who also secured a few votes despite her goal steeling).
However, I then got some more votes for LOM for forgetting a knife to cut the cake (again…). Good job pizza boxes can double up as knives & plates.
All in all a lovely game, the sun was shining as we ate our pizza & cake whilst watching the L1’s win after us. The day wasn’t yet over as the 2s put in a good show at the evenings Monopoly social with some lovely fancy dress & auctioneering skills from Harry.
Jess Woodhouse
Fab distribution from the middle and lots of great attempts on goal
