Fireworks!
Becky WagerCambridge South 3s vs Peterborough 4s
On a weekend packed with fireworks and Halloween hangovers, Cambridge South 3s lit up the pitch with a sparkling 4–0 victory over Peterborough 4s.
Despite a few bleary eyes from Friday night’s festivities, South started the match with energy that could’ve powered a bonfire. From the first whistle, we dominated possession, keeping Peterborough under constant pressure while the umpires kept the game flowing brilliantly.
It didn’t take long for the fireworks to begin. Steph opened the scoring with a beautifully struck goal, setting the tone for what was to come. Not long after, Hannah doubled the lead with a sharp tap-in that had the defence chasing shadows. Additionally, Jess made it 3–0 with a composed push right through the keeper’s feet - banging.
There was even a moment of glamour amid the chaos when Indi decided mid-play that it was the perfect time to let her hair down resulting in our very own L’Oréal advert. Stylish and strategic.
The pressure didn’t let up for Peterborough’s defence — South earned a string of short corners and went into halftime full of spark, fuelled by a motivating team talk that re-lit the flames for the second half.
Back on the pitch, Rachel capped off the scoring with a sweeping strike into the bottom corner — pure class.
Peterborough had their moments on the break, but our defence held firm to secure the clean sheet. South held the ball well and took advance to practice sleek skills and accurate passes between teammates throughout the game.
Tilly shone in the middle of the pitch, earning Player of the Match for her dynamic playmaking and tireless effort.
Meanwhile, Lemon of the Match went (deservedly) to yours truly — technically on time for pushback, but still asleep for the meet time. Oops.
With the win in the bag, spirits were high as the team prepared to roll into South-opoly Night — proving once again that whether it’s on the pitch or the dance floor, South 3s know how to bring the energy.
